- Offering the educational programs promoting the free development of an individual: “A student creates his/her own profile”: The educational programs are oriented on the free choice of a student to develop the desirable competencies in the major field of study and acquire an additional specialty or arrange for free concentration of the components of various programs;
- Promotion of the establishment of the standards of academic integrity, encouragement of the research activities of the NVU academic personnel and integration of students into this process.

6 Years Programs
The objective of the Undergraduate program at NVU School of Medicine (6 years, 360 ECTS Credits) is to develop caring, competent, confident medical doctors through outcome-based teaching approach ensuring high quality of health care and biomedical research in academic, in- and out-patients settings. To meet global standards of medical education set by World Federation of Medical Education, and defined by TUNING/MEDINE learning outcomes for undergraduate medical education.
The program is based on the principles of outcome-based education implying that teaching, learning, assessment are conducted on the basis of pre-defied competencies of graduates, i.e. any detail of the education process is defined in accordance to the “top-bottom” principle. Based on this educational approach competencies of graduates will be fully compatible with international standards of medical education.
MD curriculum at NVU School of Medicine is partly integrated and corresponds to the eighth step of eleven-step scale of the integrated curriculum defined by R. Harden – means that curriculum contains both discipline-oriented and integration components (integrating sessions) with the prevalence of the latter. Alongside with integration, development of clinical skills will take place in clinical skills lab and in clinical settings. Substantial amount of credits is allocated for teaching research methodology.
Teaching and learning methods during the study at NVU Medical School
- Inter-active lectures, seminars, workshops;

- Playing patient’s or doctor’s roles;
- Laboratory teaching;

- Participation in research;

Evaluation of students’ knowledge and skills is performed by oral exams, MCQ tests, OSCE, portfolio and presentations.
Graduates will acquire the following competencies:
- Carry out a consultation with a patient;
- Assess clinical presentations, order investigations, make differential diagnoses, and negotiate a management plan;
- Provide immediate care of medical emergencies, including First Aid and resuscitation;
- Prescribe drugs;
- Carry out practical procedures;
- Communicate effectively in a medical context;
- Apply ethical and legal principles in medical practice;
- Assess psychological and social aspects of a patient’s illness;
- Apply the principles, skills and knowledge of evidence-based medicine;
- Use information and information technology effectively in a medical context;
- Apply scientific principles, method and knowledge to medical practice and Research;
- Promote health, engage with population health issues and work effectively in a health care system
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Computer Engineering
This is a broad-based program primarily designed to offer a versatile education in business management and /or Information Technology.
Students can choose from a versatile number of subjects therefore not limiting themselves to one specific concentration, which gives them an opportunity and flexibility to broaden their knowledge and choose a degree.
The program intends to teach students to understand the nature and structure of organizations, and to contribute both support and leadership in the development of skill sets. In this program, students will develop skills and confidence so they can be part of the global business/IT environment. They will be taught how to be innovative and they will gain new insights into current business/IT issues. Students will develop competencies that will prepare them for responsible managerial/technical roles within a variety of organizational/entrepreneurial settings.
Students will build professional competence in the area of Business and Business Administration and gain knowledge and practical skills in leadership, management, finance/accounting, marketing, and business communications.
Alternatively, students will acquire knowledge for developing new IT based solutions and improve the existing ones using programming technologies and relational database management systems. The graduates will be competent in construction of mathematical models and numerical realization of respective computational algorithms.
The present new state of the art program, for the modern market allows unlimited freedom to choose/change major (BBA or BI), minor or shift respective combination to elective courses in different areas even after accomplishing 6th semester. The thorough basis of core courses provides students with solid background in diverse areas of business/management, social science, communication and technical fields broadening their understanding of given areas and their sub-fields. The core courses (coded BIT) are offered along the program and enable students to shape and apply their knowledge and skills (theoretical and practical), for future successful employment in various organizations or entrepreneurial activities. Core courses are offered only to develop competences generally needed in both business and IT fields.
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The objective of this program is to develop students into broadly educated business managers and executives who understand the nature of business as a whole, with the tools and techniques applicable to a wide variety of business situations. The capstone for the M.B.A. program gives students the chance to bring together all of the theories, skills and tools studied during the program and integrate them into a learning experience that highlights the nature of competition and the kind of strategic maneuvering that must be done in order to succeed.
The thorough basis of core courses provides students with solid background in business/management field broadening their understanding of area and its sub-fields. The core courses (coded BUSA) are offered along the program and enables students to shape their knowledge (theoretical and practical), ability to apply the knowledge and other skills for future successful employment in managerial/administrative positions or it prepares students for handling of entrepreneurial activities. Core courses are offered only to develop competences needed broadly in business.
Elective courses enable students to deepen their understanding of business management and broaden competencies in selected sub-areas or in general. The program enhances the development both research and managerial/practical skills through specific components such as Capstone in Business Development and Entrepreneurship, and Master Thesis.
Methods employed are widely based on case study methodology including mixture of interactive teaching (including class discussions) and promotion of independent personal development through combination of theoretical components, problem solving and practical experience, aiming at development of knowledge, skills and values needed for successful implementation and management of managerial/entrepreneurial activities in line with the requirements of constantly changing complex business environment and labour market.
Master’s Program in Comparative Private and International Law (Master of Law, LL.M)
The aim of the program is to develop competences needed for conducting activities at global market in the fields of comparative private and/or international law. Get acquainted with modern developments in respective fields and be able to conduct independent research in accordance to NQF VII level competences.
Broad choice between the comparative private and international law components enables student to shape his/her profile in either way: make emphasis on comparative private or international law or to combine components from both concentrations to develop competences most suitable for estimated future employment. Core courses are offered only in first semester developing competences needed broadly in both fields of concentration.
Methods employed are widely based on mixture of interactive teaching and promotion of independent personal development through combination of theoretical components and practical experience, aiming at development of skills and values needed to interpret law in line with the requirements of human rights primacy, i.e. equality and proportionality.
The Graduates will have: Broaden and systematic knowledge in the field of chosen topics/concentration, which allows for the generation of new, original ideas and wider understanding of the lawyers role in changing and globally reshaped environment;
Ability to act in a new, unpredictable and multidisciplinary environment providing the complex assessment of legal problems and developing the original ways for their solution, to employ the most recent methods and approaches to analyse new legislative developments and judicial practice;
Ability to make sound judgements on the basis of critical analysis of complex and incomplete information (including analysis of novelties in the context of new legislative regulation, judicial practice or recent research approaches) and ability to synthesise innovatively based on recent data;
Ability to communicate own judgements, arguments and research methods to academic and professional community in the Georgian and/or English languages, with due consideration of the academic integrity/disclaiming standards and recent developments in the field of information and communication technologies;
Ability to independently manage the learning process, determine the synthesis of theoretical components and practical experience, as well as to expend own knowledge on the basis of the recent methods, through the generalised analysis of initial sources, academic articles and court decisions;
Ability to evaluate own and others’ attitude towards values, to analyse the existing legal values with a view to fair balancing the party interests and, in the case of need, contribute to the creation of new ones; develop values needed to interpret law in line with the requirements of human rights primacy (i.e. equality, proportionality) and contribute to the establishment of new solutions.
Doctoris iuris (PhD in Law)
The aim of the program is to develop competences needed for conducting activities at global market in the fields of comparative private and/or international law.
